Am I the animal? Is the animal in me?
\nAm I in the animal? What can the me be?
\nWhat makes this flesh to move so free?
\nWhat binds unto this flesh the me?
\nWhat is the me of me? and what is I?<\/p>\n
I am a product of my thought,
\nThough thought is a product of me.
\nI am a being who has fought
\nWith the pangs of culture,
\nWith the pain to be free.<\/p>\n
I am lost though I know where I am.
\nAnd I am all though seeming none.
\nAnd yes, I struggle to again be One.<\/p>\n
But am I the animal? Is the animal in me?
\nAm I in the animal? What more is there to me?
\nWhy unto me this affliction grown?
\nWhy unto me these facts not known?
\nAnd what state is this that I call “free?”<\/p>\n
These forgotten facts I once knew well
\nAnd now do seek them out.
\nFrom realms beyond to flesh I fell
\nCasting out the Light of Truth;
\nI then knew not what I was about.<\/p>\n
Freedom comes again, though ne’er it left,
\nWhen desire’s freedom wills its way
\nAgain to Light and from this world away.<\/p>\n
But why am I the animal? It is not in me!
\nI am in the animal! How came here I to be?
\nWhat curse upon myself was cast?
\nThat I had to live through past
\nAnd future, knowing Time just cannot be.<\/p>\n
The passage of learning is the illusion of Time
\nAnd Time is the teacher of all.
\nThis? No curse: life away from the shine
\nOf the Light – from which lessons learnt will
\nShow the Way back to from where I did fall.<\/p>\n
The animal was my downfall; into its clutch I came:
\nA tool for toiling and learning, though Time has no end
