My won mortality
\nslaps the face of time;
\nI’m left here
\nlooking at this face of mine–<\/p>\n
Reflecting upon the things I should be doing.
\nUnencumbered by
\nthose things yet
\nunproven. <\/p>\n
And I’ll face tomorrow with
\nan unrestrained hope,<\/p>\n
taking no offence
\nat this last
\nloss
\nof control.<\/p>\n
For when mortality
\nfaces me,
\nI’m lost within
\nwhatever dreams I’ve had–
\nthere is no point
\nor purpose
\nin getting mad. <\/p>\n
So towards
\nanother sunset
\nthe day will take me… <\/p>\n
Another chance to right
\nthe things that, mistakenly,
\nI had once thought and believed
\nwere the only true path for me.
\nBut now I realize
\nthat all such paths are open
\nto the free. <\/p>\n
When a crescent moon
\nillumninates the mountain tops
\nand I am faced with choices
\nwhich have been dropped
\nupon the lap of mine,<\/p>\n
to be regarded in their time,<\/p>\n
things that shall route me
\nthrough the future,<\/p>\n
and create my history.<\/p>\n
So there is no reason
\nnor point
\nto take offense at this.
\nI don’t have the option
\nor the chance
\nto rectify all that’s amiss. <\/p>\n
But the chance I do have
\nis to make the day my own. <\/p>\n
The choice I’ll make
\nIs to take
\nthis history
