Religion is primitive:
\nthe unsophisticated pouring
\nof one’s total ambition into a
\nbelief system imposed upon themselves by others. <\/p>\n
Of course it is natural to wonder about
\nmeanings,
\npurposes,
\ngreater pictures than the visible. <\/p>\n
But to supplant that wonder
\nwith blind unabashed faith
\nin that which has been
\npurported,
\nreported,
\nrecorded,
\ndistorted
\nby man:<\/p>\n
a book.<\/p>\n
I cannot partake.
\nI cannot relate.
\nI cannot take it.
\nI cannot condone it. <\/p>\n
Though the principles may be sound
\nand just
\nand civilized,
\nthe methods are to be abhorred. <\/p>\n
The imposition of one’s will
\none’s narcissistic belief
\nthat there is no other way
\nthan their own
\nto achieve that which
\nattempts to answer those
\npreponderant questions
\nof wonder,
\nof what is beyond
\nthe greater picture
\nof what is visible. <\/p>\n
But, to supplant that
\nand impose that;
\nthere can be no right or wrong.
\nBelief is belief,
\nbut the imposition of belief
\nupon others?
\nThe evangelical establishment:
\na cause of more
\nand bloodier wars
\nthan any misunderstanding,
\nthan I can explain. <\/p>\n
I’ll take that ugly forced religion,
\nthat primitive basal
\nand hedonistic belief
\nthat paradise and immortality
\ncan be found
\nthrough a book<\/p>\n
to be inspired or in awe of
\nsome great and noble man,
\nis one thing. <\/p>\n
To have blind faith that that
\ngreat and noble man
\ncan take and turn
\nand change a world
\nis a false belief that
\nhe is the only
\nconduit of that change. <\/p>\n
The faithful,
\nthe evangelical:<\/p>\n
closed minds;
\nprimitive faith.<\/p>\n
