Serene, though I can’t proclaim to be,
\nI’ll meditate and try to see
\nan empty space invade the clutter,
\nwith its own impartial lack of reverence
\nfor the disorder of a non-impartial mind,
\nhoping, a spirit within to find. <\/p>\n
I welcome the empty space, the empty time;
\nthe perfect pause in daily deliberations;
\na chance to clear audacious lust
\nfrom this discardable carcass,
\nmarred by the interminably unjust
\ncrimes committed,
\nbut not acquitted;
\nthe secret lies thus lived. <\/p>\n
And so I sink into serenity;
\nbut remain distracted by
\na mental constellation of calamities,
\nthat crowd an emptying mind.
\nThese thoughts: two-faced avengers
\nforestalling arrival of peace;
\nobviating any placidity,
\nand I’m unable to release;<\/p>\n
They impose their fatalist flaws,
\nand disquiet that perfect pause;
\nrambunctious thoughts arrogating
\na mind ready for the taking.<\/p>\n
Serenity never came;
\nan invasion foiled again.
\nI’ve reverted to lust and avarice,
\nand with them I’ll descend
\nto the depths of dissatisfaction;
\na failure once again,
\nunable to find any semblance
\nof serenity of mind
\nunable in this pestilence
\nto free myself this time.<\/p>\n
And that carcass, discardable though it will be,
\nis all I have now to house me,
\na spirit taking orders from a mind;
\nby bodily senses preempted,
\nand thus tempted,
\ncommitting interminable crimes.<\/p>\n
No, serenity is not what living
\ncarcasses allow;
\nthe clutter has taken over;
\ncommitting, not acquitting,
\nthe sins of another day;
\nthose audacious vices befitting
