Life:
\nThe eternal study
\nOf those for
\nWhom life is all.<\/p>\n
And their study?<\/p>\n
Is it really Life?
\nA man may study cells
\nAnd find
\nEach cell is living;
\nEach cell has life.<\/p>\n
But how can that relate
\nTo what I am
\nConscious of, as Life?
\nI am alive, I have Life.
\nYet he studies the cell.
\nHow conscious is this
\nCell being animated
\nBy my Life?
\nI am not conscious
\nOf being these cells –
\nExcept as the whole, and
\nIndivisible conglomerate
\nOf cells
\nI know as me.<\/p>\n
He may also study
\nWhat is in most terms
\nIrrelevant to Life.
\nHe studies physical law;
\nPhysical properties
\nOf the components
\nOf the body of
\nThe being that
\nIs conscious of having Life.
\nAnd says he studies
\nLife itself.<\/p>\n
I am Life.
\nOnly I can study Life,
\nFor only I can study within.
\nOnly I can feel what is Life.
\nI only am able to transcend
\nThe realms of my being
\nTo find what is Life,
\nAnd what is reason,
\nTo reason about the Life
\nThat gives me reason.<\/p>\n
We see life all around.
\nWe see it in the breeze,
\nIn the soil and in the sky,
\nAnd in the bush and the flower,
\nIn the trees and in the leaves.
\nBut life that is all around,
\nIs living only to the living.
\nFor life extends beyond by far
\nThe sights and sounds of this
\nEarth around us.<\/p>\n
Far beyond the depths of
\nSight; into feeling.
\nFar beyond the realms
\nOf death; into Life.
\nFar beyond the feelings
\nFelt by the body.
\nFar, far and further;
\nBeyond breathing,
\nbeyond dreams, beyond
\nBeyond – until with
\nAll it merges.
\nFor Life is All.<\/p>\n
I have Life.
