At a loss for words,
\nI sit, observe.
\nThere’s much here to which
\nI cannot relate;
\nI observe
\nand contemplate
\nthe mental anguish
\nof a body discordant
\nwith self-image,
\nas in these wild,
\npossessed,
\ngender-obsessed
\nanomalous human beings.<\/p>\n
Alone,
\none hundred other souls
\nsurround me.
\nNone kindred,
\nsocial graces hindered,
\nsome lacking civility, will;
\na preponderant immaturity
\nin their quest for
\nattention and promiscuity.<\/p>\n
I understand
\nfrom them I must learn.
\nAnd yet, I still yearn
\nto be away from this place
\nto be where there’s a trace
\nof normality to placate
\nmy need for conversation,
\nmental stimulation,
\ninstead of here where I
\nobserve,
\ncontemplate.<\/p>\n
Yet this heavy disdain
\nserves no purpose.
\nIs it my jealousy?
\nAm I worthless
\nin this situation?<\/p>\n
In none I see qualities
\nI would idolize or emulate
\nor be desirous to participate. <\/p>\n
So I observe.<\/p>\n
And am led by what I see
\nto disdain,
\ndetachment;
\na callous assessment
\nof where it went wrong.<\/p>\n
I don’t understand or
\nrelate to these throngs.<\/p>\n
And what is it I learn?
\n(the observations causing consternation)<\/p>\n
I am as imperfect as any. <\/p>\n
My imperfections
\nare my own,
\nas are theirs.
\nThough I may take measure
\nof myself by my imperfections,
\nI must measure others
\nby their strengths. <\/p>\n
So I sit,
\nobserve,
\ncontemplate.<\/p>\n
Participate?
\nIn that to which I can’t relate?<\/p>\n
