This body is an athlete’s,
\nDriven, and driving;
\nRelentless in a quest for what
\nGlory only an athlete can taste.<\/p>\n
The body tuned and trained
\nBecomes the ultimate goal;<\/p>\n
The body tuned and trained
\nBecomes the ultimate object<\/p>\n
Of Worship.
\nOf God.<\/p>\n
The athlete be it known –
\nMore human than human;
\nMore human than spirit,
\nYet more spirit seeking
\nThan human.<\/p>\n
Seeking the Spiritual unity
\nWithin his defined rules,
\nThe athlete is driven –
\nDriving towards the unity,
\nThe Oneness,
\nThe mastery of the sport;
\nThe glory of the God.<\/p>\n
With body he will disport,
\nProud of the limits
\nTo which body can be pushed.<\/p>\n
With body he will be God,
\nWhen sport’s mastery
\nWill make him more
\nHuman than Human;
\nMore God than God.<\/p>\n
Driven by what?
\nWhat need is there for sport
\nWithin the Athlete’s quest?
\nPerhaps a need for expression.
\nExpression limited by
\nRules of the sport,
\nBecoming more expressive
\nWithin that limitation.<\/p>\n
Inherent insecurities,
\nPerhaps too, driving the
\nAthlete on to prove,
\nTo possess, and to
\nThe ultimate worship of the
