\nI should have lusted after freedom
\nand instead am shocked\u00a0into
\nan ancient awareness;<\/p>\n
a solemn retrospect of what had happened
\nhad shaped,
\nhad built the barrier
\nbefore which,
\nthrough which
\nlies that freedom after which I lust.<\/p>\n
I cannot let you
\nknow the pain,
\nthe sense of stormyness\u00a0ever looming,
\never taunting
\nthe content out of me
\nI am on the pains of reminders
\ncrying
\nWithin the tears flow
\nas externally the muscles
\nfail to respond<\/p>\n
Within, the tears flow
\ninternalized
\nIs this the way\u00a0I’d have them know me?
\nTrapped behind a barrier
\nof my history’s making?<\/p>\n
I am just the salve to which the master
\nmust attend,
\nmonitor,
\ncrush,
\nkeep subservient
\nin the dull facade of thinking,
\nas master I am master
\nnot realizing that the liberties the master takes away
\nare tenfold those that he would lose<\/p>\n
This master is the slave to the whims of universe,
\ngovernments,
\npeople who have no right
\nto bear witness
\nto truth.<\/p>\n
All I want is freedom:
\nto work, live, die, conform.
\nI can’t even do that
\nwhether willing or not
\nit is impossible.
\nI have never been able to do so.<\/p>\n
Not to laws,
\nfashions,
\ntrends,
\nnot to the whims of marketers,
\nNot to anything but
\nthe solemn mistake\u00a0that this life became
\nfrom which I’ve learned,<\/p>\n
barriers
\nare only barriers
\nthe freedom is taken away in so many ways,
\nbut in none so succingtly as
