Whatever happened to the little red wagon?
\nThe toy that made junior happy and industrious.
\nThat he’d pile other toys in and wheel ’round the yard,
\nAnd he’d clean up his mess in and travel O so far.
\nBut junior today has just a little grey tank.
\nFor three year old war mongers we’ve society to thank.<\/p>\n
Whatever happened to good old hide and seek?
\nThat would keep all the kids merrily occupied all day
\nAfter searching when they’d find another’s secret place
\nAnd neighborhood kids would be friends and share their space.
\nBut the kids of today band together in their gangs,
\nAnd for their own insecurity they have society to thank.<\/p>\n
Whatever happened to all the toys of playfulness
\nThe ones that helped junior develop useful skills;
\nThat he’d play and he’d learn with, cultivate healthy attitudes with,
\nAnd share his toys and knowledge with the kids from all around.
\nBut junior today has toy laser machine guns,
\nAnd the killers of tomorrow in today’s society have begun.<\/p>\n
Whatever happened to the battle on the chessboard?
\nThe game that taught junior to think much more logically.
\nThat he and his dad would play for hours on end,
\nAnd he’d even play himself whenever boredom did set in.
\nBut junior today plays his space invader games;
\nFor his desire for destruction he has society to blame.<\/p>\n
Whatever happened to youth’s jovial complacency?
\nThe satisfaction with life that a child would always have.
\nThe respect for his elders, for life and for knowledge
\nThat came naturally to the child from his own decency.
\nBut junior’s just produced by society today
