Air

Are we aware of air’s pervasive presence?
Subtly aware, perhaps.
It is air’s absence,
air’s movement,
air’s temperature,
by which our awareness awakens.

Reach up, grasp at the unseen,
the air.
Bring down the empty hand,
filled with air,
filled with light
allow that hand the insight
to feel what cannot be seen
but is everywhere.

Fill lungs with life-giving air
and pervasive light that is everywhere,
everything,
without which there would be nothing.

There is nothing
pervasive; only light,
indistinct, unnamed;

No
divisions,
designations,
demarcations,
directions,
nor
dimensions.

Only light.
The nameless shapeless reality
that is sublime consciousness.

Like the air
we move through this reality
unaware

Like the air
we find nourishment and peace
in this reality,
everywhere

No need to reach, grasp,
clutch at the light.
It is, already, always,
there.

Everywhere.
