The world outside beckons, I hear the sea’s calls.
To be true to my heart I must answer them all.
I must follow the trade winds on the seas high,
But the hardest thing my friend, is saying goodbye.
And travel is something I feel I must do,
So if my travels don’t return me to you,
Or if when I’m gong something in your life’s not there
That something I’ll have, and treasure, so please don’t despair.
Only three things I’ll ask of you before we part;
The first is a corner for me in your heart
And next a thought of me in each passing day,
And last, a prayer for me whenever you pray.
So goodbye, my friend, though friendship’s chains
Shall hold us fast until we meet again,
And over all the leagues of land and sea
My thoughts will pass to you, and yours to me.
