I had spread my arms wide upon a world,
Viewed from places offering
Countenance of a different kind.
I had embraced the sun and welcomed the night,
Had read the clouds, and parted rocks;
I had known a tree’s solemn stance upon a hill;
And had felt the individuality of a grain of sand;
I had danced and teetered as had fields of green,
And had cried the ocean’s tears and wept the lake’s own waters.
In short: I had survived. I had experienced.
I have known.
But when I have known my self, I have lived.
